The Agency for Natural Resources and Energy of the METI of Japan and the Japan Photovoltaic Energy Association (JPEA) introduced the Solar Panel Type Registration System, which was officially implemented on April 1, 2017. Only after the solar cell products registered through this system are installed by users can they be used as the objects of power purchased by Japanese electric power companies.
Application materials for solar panel type registration must be submitted to JPEA after pre-examination by JPEA Application Center (JP-AC). After approval, the registered products will be included in the Solar Panel Type Registration List and published on the website of the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy of the METI of Japan.
Solar panel type registration is divided into Registration A and Registration B:
Registration A applies to solar products below 10 KW and above 10 KW, which shall fully meet the requirements of certification and conversion efficiency; Registration B only applies to solar products above 10 KW, which shall fully meet the conversion efficiency requirements.
