CE mark is the “passport” for products to enter the markets of EU countries and European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries. Any regulated product (covered by the New Approach Directives), whether produced outside the EU or in an EU member country, must comply with the requirements of the Directives and relevant coordinative standard and bear the CE mark before being placed in the EU market. This is a mandatory requirement of EU laws for related products, which simplifies trade procedures and provides a unified minimum technical standard for products from all countries to trade in the European market. Currently, 24 new approach directives relate to CE certification.
Countries that require CE certification include: all countries in the European Economic Area.
