From June 24 to 28, 2024, the China-EU Carbon Market Cooperation Training Course for Lecturers was successfully held in Beijing. Wang Tie, Director of the Domestic Policy and Compliance Division (Carbon Emissions Trading Management Division) of the Department of Climate Change of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Andreas Zenthofer, official from the European Commission's Directorate-General for Climate Action, and Chen Sheng, Deputy Director of the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Over 100 representatives from the ecological and environmental authorities of various provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the central government, as well as technical support organizations and power generation enterprises, participated in the training.

This training aimed to promote cooperation and exchanges between the China and EU carbon markets, further enhancing the capabilities and standards of provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities in participating in the construction of the national carbon market. During the training, Chinese and EU experts lectured on topics such as accounting and verification of the national carbon market, data quality control schemes and data management platforms, and practical experience from the EU carbon market. Experts from CQC conducted a special training session focused on "Challenges and Responses to Carbon Verification in China's Power Generation Industry," providing intuitive and in-depth instruction on verifying coal consumption, carbon content in coal, net calorific value, power generation, and heat supply with case studies. During the training, experts also fully interacted with participants regarding difficult and controversial issues in the national carbon market, and group discussions were held on case studies. Through this training, participants gained a deeper understanding of the policy essentials and latest requirements of the national carbon market, effectively enhancing the technical competence of relevant personnel.
