On June 11, 2024, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) issued the "Announcement on the Approval Decision for the First Voluntary Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Project Validation and Emission Reduction Verification Bodies," in which CQC was successfully selected as one of the first validation and emission reduction verification bodies for voluntary greenhouse gas emission reduction projects. CQC obtained validation and emission reduction verification qualifications in two professional fields: the energy industry (renewable/non-renewable resources) and forestry and other carbon sinks.

This approval of verification bodies for voluntary greenhouse gas emission reduction projects was the first to be conducted under the unified management of the "Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Certification and Accreditation," the "Measures for the Administration of Voluntary Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Trading (Trial)," and the "Measures for the Administration of Certification Bodies." The aim is to enhance the quality and transparency of national greenhouse gas emission reduction projects, further standardize validation and verification bodies for voluntary greenhouse gas emission reductions, and thus promote the healthy and orderly development of the national voluntary greenhouse gas emission reduction trading market.

According to the "Measures for the Administration of Voluntary Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Trading (Trial)," certified voluntary emission reductions can be used to offset carbon emission allowances in the national carbon emission trading market, local carbon emission trading markets, carbon neutrality for large events, and offset corporate greenhouse gas emissions, among other scenarios.
