On June 6, 2024, , in collaboration with the China National Institute of Standardization (CNIS), the China Certification Centre (CQC) held a Human Factors/Ergonomics Certification Exchange Meeting in Beijing, during which the first Human Factors/Ergonomics Certificates in the field of household appliances were granted. The event was attended by officials from the Procurement Center of the National People's Congress, experts and scholars from the Ergonomics Society of China, as well as industry experts and corporate representatives.

With the rapid development of China's economy and technology, the living standards have gradually been improved, and the demands for products have evolved from mere functionality to encompass comfort and enjoyment. The significance of human factors/ergonomics in product and service design has become increasingly prominent. The "Outline for Building a Quality Power" and the "Action Plan for Strengthening Consumer Goods Standardization" have explicitly called for promoting the application of ergonomic design in the household appliance sector and reinforcing the fundamental research and standard development of ergonomic products.

Adhering to the concept of "Certification for the People, Quality Shared by All," CQC together with CNIS, has launched two projects: "Human Factors/Ergonomics Certification for Smart Home Appliance Display and Control Interfaces" and "Human Factors/Ergonomics Certification for Energy-Efficient Room Air Conditioners with Comfort Features." These initiatives aim to advance the application of human factors/ergonomics in the household appliance industry, enhancing the performance and quality of products.

The "Human Factors/Ergonomics Certification for Smart Home Appliance Display and Control Interfaces" project conducts a thorough assessment from multiple dimensions of human-computer interaction interfaces, encompassing interface layout, character information, the rationality of control components, and the efficiency of control program usability. To ensure comprehensive and accurate evaluations, a combination of expert reviews and user testing is employed for comprehensive testing and validation.

The "Human Factors/Ergonomics Certification for Energy-Efficient Room Air Conditioners with Comfort Features" project balances both comfort and energy efficiency. In terms of comfort, comprehensive evaluations are conducted on parameters such as temperature, humidity, airspeed, and radiant temperature, requiring the comfort level to reach the highest grade specified in the standard. As for energy efficiency, the actual energy efficiency ratio under the highest comfort level operating conditions is assessed.

During the exchange, participants engaged in profound discussions on the application of human factors/ergonomics in product design and development, as well as strategies for promoting it.
