On June 6, the National Certification and Accreditation Administration of State Administration for Market Regulation (CNCA) held the 2024 World Accreditation Day event and the China Certification and Accreditation Conference in Xiong'an New Area, Hebei Province. During the event, the international mutual recognition cooperation practice "Promoting the International Recognition of China's Conformity Assessment System and Providing Quality Certification Services to Sri Lanka" submitted by the China Quality Certification Centre (CQC) was honored with the "Featured Excellent" International Mutual Recognition Cooperation Excellent Practice in Quality Certification award by the CNCA and announced during a special session. This practice showcases the outstanding achievements of CQC's collaboration with the Sri Lanka Standards Institution, laying a solid technical foundation for facilitating bilateral trade between China and Sri Lanka.
In accordance with the deployment of the National Conference on Certification, Accreditation, Inspection, and Testing, the CNCA launched a nationwide solicitation for "Featured Excellent" International Mutual Recognition Cooperation Practices in Quality Certification in April 2024. As the secretariat and technical support unit for multiple bilateral cooperation initiatives under the CNCA, CQC actively responded to the call. After five rounds of rigorous screening, CQC's practice "Promoting the International Recognition of China's Conformity Assessment System and Providing Quality Certification Services to Sri Lanka" stood out from 127 entries, successfully winning the recognition as an excellent practice and receiving high praise from evaluation experts and leaders of the State Administration for Market Regulation.
Through close communication between CQC and the Sri Lanka Standards Institution in the early stages, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Recognition Project of Conformity Certificates was signed between the two parties on March 29, 2024, witnessed by Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena. According to the cooperation agreement, CQC has been authorized as the designated certification body by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution to conduct testing and certification of products exported to Sri Lanka in accordance with Sri Lankan Standards (SLS) and issue conformity certificates recognized by the Sri Lankan government.
Winning the title of "Featured but Excellent" International Mutual Recognition Cooperation Excellent Practice is a testament to CQC's efforts and achievements in cross-border quality certification cooperation, as well as recognition of its contributions to facilitating international trade. In the future, CQC will continue to provide efficient and reliable quality certification services to more countries and regions, promoting the healthy development of global trade.
