On April 26, 2024, the EU New Battery Regulations training session, part of the "Supporting the Growth of Ten Thousand Enterprises" foreign trade guidance series organized by the Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce, was successfully held in Fuzhou. Representatives from numerous manufacturers and trade companies of battery, vehicle, and various electronic and electrical appliance in Fujian Province attended the training. China Quality Certification Centre (CQC) was invited to provide the training.

The purpose of this training was to enhance the understanding of the recently implemented EU Battery and Waste Battery Regulations, standardize the trade routes with the EU, improve the competitiveness of exports to the EU, and achieve green, low-carbon, high-quality development. During the training, representatives from the Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce analyzed the status of the battery industry in Fujian. They emphasized that the EU Battery Regulations will affect batteries exported to the EU and batteries assembled into electronic appliances, automobiles, and other products, affecting the entire upstream and downstream supply chains.

CQC experts provided policy interpretation of key new or revised contents in the new battery regulations, such as the scope of jurisdiction, substance restriction requirements, carbon footprint requirements, waste management requirements, performance and durability requirements, and information disclosure. They also elaborated on the rules for product carbon emission assessment and verification. During the exchange, trainees engaged in extensive discussions with CQC instructors about their understanding of the regulations and the responding measures.

In the future, CQC will continue to leverage its technical expertise and brand advantages to help enterprises actively respond to international green trade rules and enhance the green competitiveness of the foreign trade industry.
