Recently, the China Quality Certification Centre (CQC) signed a supplementary cooperation agreement with the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC), becoming the first domestic certification body with ISCC CORSIA and ISCC CORSIA PLUS certification qualifications. Additionally, CQC is the only certification body in China with qualifications for ISCC EU, ISCC PLUS, and ISCC CORSIA (PLUS).
ISCC is an independent multi-stakeholder initiative that allows partner certification bodies to conduct ISCC audits and issue certificates worldwide. In 2014, CQC became the first ISCC partner certification body in China and has since provided ISCC EU and/or ISCC PLUS certification services to nearly 200 domestic and international enterprises.
CORSIA (Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation) is an emissions reduction mechanism developed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) aimed at addressing the increase in total CO2 emissions from aviation. "CORSIA eligible fuels" are a key element of CORSIA, allowing aircraft operators to use these fuels to meet the CO2 offset requirements under CORSIA. In June 2023, ISCC was approved by the ICAO Council as a sustainability certification scheme. Operators of CORSIA sustainable aviation fuels can use ISCC CORSIA (PLUS) certificates issued by ISCC partner certification bodies to demonstrate compliance with ICAO's sustainability criteria.
Given CQC's high level of ISCC auditing and internal management quality, as well as the strong cooperation and communication between ISCC and CQC, both parties decided to expand their cooperation from ISCC EU and ISCC PLUS to include the ISCC CORSIA (PLUS) system.
Moving forward, CQC will continue to drive the development of the bioeconomy and circular economy through high-quality certification and standards research. This will contribute to the green and low-carbon transformation and upgrading of the economy, industry, and energy structures.
