On November 10th, the China Petroleum Planning Institute and the CQC jointly held the 2023 Petroleum Gas Station Sustainable Carbon Neutrality Rating Evaluation Results Release Conference in Beijing. During the conference, they released the "Method and Report Guidelines for Greenhouse Gas Emission Accounting of Carbon-Neutral Gas Stations" and the "Carbon-Neutral Rating Evaluation Guidelines for Gas Station Operations".
These guidelines, jointly researched and developed by the China Petroleum Planning Institute and CQC, represent an evaluation system tailored for the sustainable operation of gas stations, addressing the specific issues of defining carbon-neutral gas stations and evaluating the degree of their carbon neutrality. Their implementation will drive standardization in the carbon neutrality efforts of domestic gas stations, offering guidance for similar industries and companies seeking to adopt carbon-neutral initiatives. This initiative is especially significant for cities with a service industry focus, aiding in the exploration and realization of carbon peak and neutrality.
In recent years, China has made significant progress in its "dual carbon" initiatives, demonstrated by the issuance of policy documents such as the "Opinions on Improving the System and Policy Measures for Energy Green Low-Carbon Transformation" and the "14th Five-Year Plan for Renewable Energy Development". Understanding and leveraging the relevant policies to achieve green transformation through carbon reduction measures and a carbon economy has become a critical step for the energy industry to solve development challenges.
Following the release of these guidelines, numerous gas station companies are expected to simultaneously implement them, serving as positive examples in driving the green transformation and enhancement of the energy industry's contribution to the national "dual carbon" targets, thereby aiding China's efforts to meet its "dual carbon" goals on schedule.
