On November 7, 2023, China Quality Certification Center (CQC) was invited to participate in the ESG Open Forum titled "Steering Commitment Towards a Carbon Future," hosted by China Pacific Property Insurance Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as CPIC P&C).
During the event, the head of the Product Certification Department VI from CQC, along with the Assistant General Manager and Board Secretary of China Pacific Insurance, Tao Lei, and the Secretary-General of the Business Industry Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Yao Xin, jointly released the insurance industry's first technical specification for low-carbon operation management—"Technical Specification for Low-Carbon Operation Management of Insurance Companies"—and introduced the standard content.
The group standard "Technical Specification for Low-Carbon Operation Management of Insurance Companies" was jointly drafted by CPIC P&C and CQC, approved and released by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. This standard takes the reduction of carbon emissions as its core starting point and focuses on six categories of iconic key assets and operations related to carbon emissions. Through mechanisms such as system improvement, process standardization, system support, closed-loop tracking, and innovative mechanisms, it uses differentiated combinations of various assets and operations. It has pioneered an integrated management model for the iconic key assets of a company, covering "physical assets + financial assets + carbon emissions," as well as carbon guidance taxes and other carbon reduction promotion mechanisms. Meanwhile, it promotes the construction of a low-carbon operation support platform, aiming to achieve low-carbon operational goals. This initiative holds significant guiding significance in improving sustainable and high-quality governance for the insurance industry.
In the future, CQC will continue to leverage its technical advantages and engage in ongoing business innovation, providing professional technical services for the low-carbon transformation in the insurance and financial sectors.
