On November 2nd, 2023, Air China and Mercedes-Benz jointly held a zero-carbon green travel-themed event. CQC conducted a verification of the carbon emissions and the carbon neutrality implementation plan during the event. The head of the Product Certification Department VI of CQC was invited to the event and presented the organizers with a carbon neutrality certificate for the activity.
The event included special presentations by experts in the form of a public lecture on the conservation and release of Chinese sturgeon and an ecological protection salon. These sessions focused on explaining the current status of Chinese sturgeon conservation efforts and the major achievements in ecological protection along the Yangtze River in recent years. The event also featured an activity for releasing Chinese sturgeon using the resources of the Wuhan Public Welfare Release Station.
Upon verification, the carbon emissions boundary for this event included the carbon emissions from the round-trip flights between Beijing and Wuhan for event guests, ecological protection release activities, catering and accommodation, material consumption, waste disposal, as well as carbon emissions generated by guest transportation and local transportation services. The carbon neutrality implementation process during the event complied with the relevant requirements of the "Guidelines for Carbon Neutrality Implementation for Large-Scale Events (Trial)," and the resulting carbon emissions were offset and neutralized by canceling an equivalent amount of carbon credits that met the standard requirements.
In the future, CQC will continue to fulfill its social responsibilities by providing high-quality "dual carbon" services, supporting green development for enterprises, and promoting public awareness of ecological protection and green travel, making a positive contribution to the country's dual carbon goals.
