On November 2, 2023, the 15th China (Wuxi) International New Energy Conference and Exhibition, hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission (Provincial Energy Bureau), the Jiangsu Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the Wuxi Municipal People's Government, opened in Wuxi. Ma Xin, a member of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Executive Deputy Governor; Yu Jianlong, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade; and Du Xiaogang, Secretary of the Wuxi Municipal Party Committee, gave speeches at the event, along with Shazu Kang, former Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Honorary Chairman of the International Green Economy Association; Shi Yubo, Chairman of the China Energy Research Society; Wang Dapeng, Deputy Director of the New Energy and Renewable Energy Department of the National Energy Administration; and Xie Zhaoxu, Managing Director of the CQC; academician Ding Rongjun from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Consul General Mohanad Nakbi from the UAE in Shanghai attended the opening ceremony and the main forum.

At the opening ceremony, the inaugural "Taihu Green Excellence Award" was presented, and other notable events included the unveiling of the "Jiangsu Province Engineering Research Center for New Energy in 2023," the launch of the "Wuxi New Energy Industry Fund," the establishment of the "Yangtze River Delta New Energy Equipment Industry Ecological Cooperation Organization," as well as the signing of significant new energy industry projects in Wuxi. Xie Zhaoxu presented the first "Taihu Green Excellence Award" gold award to the winning enterprise. Experts and scholars from the new energy field worldwide engaged in in-depth discussions concerning advanced photovoltaic technology, industrial and commercial energy storage, renewable energy hydrogen production, and international market expansion, among other hot topics.

The inaugural "Taihu Green Excellence Award" selection process began in July 2023. It aimed to commend benchmark enterprises demonstrating outstanding performance in the field of new energy photovoltaics, thereby propelling green innovative development within the industry. As a crucial technical support organization for establishing this award, CQC drafted the "Taihu Green Excellence Award" review management methods and review guidelines. Alongside the evaluation committee, CQC jointly organized activities such as document review, on-site assessment, and on-site defense. Ultimately, based on the dimensions of quality enhancement, technological innovation, performance level, and environmental sustainability, two platinum awards and two gold awards were selected.

Before the conference opening, Xie Zhaoxu attended the closed-door meeting of the 2023 Carbon Neutrality Action Forum, focusing on topics such as the healthy development of the new energy industry, carbon neutrality paths and technological innovation, carbon neutrality and enterprise ESG governance, and development recommendations for the new energy industry in Wuxi.

Against the backdrop of the "dual carbon" targets, the development of the new energy industry is crucial. In the next step, CQC will continue to advance the construction of a national-level integrated public service platform for new energy certification, testing, and research, vigorously build a highland for the transformation of the new energy industry, promote technological innovation and policy research in the new energy industry, and inject new momentum into the industry's green innovative development.
