With the rising number of data centers and the growing complexity of single data centers, the importance of infrastructure operation and maintenance is increasingly highlighted. More and more owners begin to pay attention to the operation and maintenance of data centers. Designing and building a perfect data center is only the first step for the sustainable operation of the data center. The data center owner must be able to accurately describe operation and maintenance requirements and design corresponding plans according to the risk features of the data center. According to the survey of more than 7,000 data centers in China, downtimes that caused economic losses due to inadequate capacity of operation and maintenance teams account for more than half of all fault cases.

On August 1, 2018, the Certification and Accreditation of the P.R.C issued the China’s Service Certification, which proposed that “China is gradually moving towards the era of service economy.”

The China Quality Certification Centre (CQC) has developed and launched the operation and maintenance evaluation business for data center infrastructure in response to national policy guidance and market demand. This business is based on the general standards of data center industry such as the GB/T 33136 Service Capability Maturity Model for Information Technology Service Data Centers and GB/T 51314 Data Center Infrastructure Operation and Maintenance Standards. The objectives of data center infrastructure operation and maintenance are obtained by breaking down the operation and maintenance requirements; the service capabilities required to support the objectives are derived by targeted analysis; the management domain of data center infrastructure operation and maintenance is acquired by integrating and dividing service capabilities. By scoring the infrastructure operation and maintenance management domain of each data center, the total score is finally summarized, and the evaluation level of the infrastructure operation and maintenance of the data center is presented.
