Product Safety of Electrical Appliances & Materials (PSE) certification is a compulsory market access system for electrical appliances in Japan, and an important component of Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Act (DENAN Act). Electrical appliances and materials are divided into “Specified Electrical Appliances and Materials” and “Non-specified Electrical Appliances and Materials,” in which the former includes 116 products, and the latter includes 341 products, with technical requirements including EMC and safety. All products in the catalog of “Specified Electrical Appliances and Materials” entering the Japanese market must be certified by a third-party certification body authorized by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), obtain a certificate of conformity, and be affixed with the logo of the certification body and the Diamond PSE mark on the label.

Products in the catalog of “Non-specified Electrical Appliances and Materials” entering the Japanese market must be confirmed to conform to the technical standards of Japanese electrical appliances and materials by means of self-testing and self-declaration, and the Round PSE mark shall be affixed to the nameplate.

In April 2007, CQC obtained the PSE certification authorization from the METI of Japan, and became the only PSE’s third-party certification body authorized by the Japanese government in China, covering 10 categories of specific electrical appliances and materials.
