The 8th Global Energy Efficiency Conference was recently held in Paris, France, bringing together over 30 ministers, representatives from more than 90 countries, international organizations, research institutions, and enterprises to discuss the importance and specific measures of energy efficiency and energy conservation in addressing energy crises and climate change. Officials from the National Development and Reform Commission attended the conference and delivered keynote speeches. Xu Shaoshan, Deputy Director of CQC, was invited to participate in the conference.
To strengthen international cooperation on energy efficiency, the International Energy Agency (IEA) has been hosting the Global Energy Efficiency Conference annually since 2016. The conference invites relevant national governments, enterprises, international organizations, and other related institutions to exchange the latest progress and important topics in policies, technologies, and actions to promote global energy efficiency enhancement and energy transformation. This year, all participants agreed that energy conservation and improving energy efficiency, as the "first fuel" and important pillars of global energy transformation, are crucial in ensuring energy security, enhancing energy reliability, and affordability. They expressed their willingness to deepen energy efficiency cooperation and jointly promote global green, low-carbon, and sustainable development.
During his speech at the "Digital Era Energy Management" sub-forum, Xu Shaoshan highlighted the important role of digitization in promoting energy-saving and carbon reduction in key energy-consuming sectors. Utilizing digital tools effectively enables industries such as manufacturing and construction to achieve energy-saving and carbon reduction goals and facilitate green and low-carbon transformation. He also suggested working on accelerating standard development and implementation, strengthening supply-demand matching, and promoting collaborative efforts to enhance the digitalization level of energy management.
