On December 6, 2022, the 19th China-Korea Conformity Assessment Sub-Committee meeting was held remotely. Liu Weijun, Director of Certification Department of State Administration for Market Regulation, and Lee Changsoo, Director of Korea Agency for Technology and Standards of MOTIE, respectively led Chinese and Korean delegations to attend the meeting. Liu Jiang, Deputy Director of CQC, and relevant representatives from the International Cooperation Department, Product Certification Department I and Product Certification Department VII attended the meeting online.  

Liu Weijun stated that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Korea. In the past 30 years, bilateral trade between China and South Korea has achieved leap-forward growth. Since its establishment in 2003, the China-South Korea Conformity Assessment Sub-Committee has carried out pragmatic exchanges and cooperation, and made significant progress in mutual recognition of conformity assessment such as electronic appliances and cabbage and kimchi exported to Korea, making important contributions to reducing technical barriers to trade and promoting trade facilitation between China and South Korea.  

At the meeting, the two sides introduced the latest progress in certification system, laws and regulations in the field of conformity assessment between China and South Korea, discussed the mutual recognition and upgrading plan of electronic and electrical products between China and South Korea and the comparison results of capability verification, and expressed the key points and visions of cooperation in conformity assessment between China and South Korea in the future. Finally, China and South Korea also exchanged the main problems encountered by their respective enterprises regarding exports, and conducted in-depth discussions.

As the secretariat of the bilateral cooperation mechanism between China and South Korea of the Certification Department of State Administration for Market Regulation, CQC has made sufficient preparations for the meeting and cooperated with the Certification Department throughout the whole meeting. In the future, CQC will continue to play the think tank function, actively cooperate with relevant government departments with the brand and professional advantages of CQC, strengthen international bilateral cooperation and exchanges, and promote the international trade between China and South Korea.
