To whom it may concern,
Further to the previous notice regarding the additional requirements for plugs and socket-outlets/cord extension sets for GC-mark Certification, CQC would like to inform all the relevant clients that according to the latest announcement released by GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) recently, the implementation date of the additional national requirements will be updated. Based on this, CQC makes the following notifications and adjustments:
1. For plugs and socket-outlets/cord extension sets intended to be placed onto GCC member states market, if the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is one of its target countries, KSA national requirements should be considered and the specific standards shall implemented via GC-mark certification procedure.
2. Implementation and timelines:
1) SASO 2203 for Plugs and Socket-outlets, shall be enforced after the 6th Aug, 2020;
2) GSO 2117 for Cord Extension Sets, shall be enforced after 2nd Feb, 2021;
3) The above two dates are applicable to both newly issued certificates and existing certificates. For the existing GC-mark certificates, the manufacturers shall complete updating the standards before the above mentioned dates, if the manufacturers do not comply with this requirement, CQC will make some adjustment to the certificates by removing the KSA until the manufacturers comply with these requirements.
