To whom it may concern,
CQC would like to inform all the relevant clients that according to the announcement released by GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) recently, additional national requirements for plugs and socket-outlets/cord extension sets intended to be placed onto the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) market will be implemented via GC-mark certification procedure. Based on this, CQC makes the following notifications and adjustments:
1. New applicable standards:
1) Plugs and socket-outlets: SASO 2203
2) Cord extension sets: GSO 2117
2. Implementation and timelines:
a) For the GC-mark certificate of plugs and socket-outlets/cord extension sets, if KSA is one of its target countries, KSA national requirements should be considered and the standards mentioned in the above clause 1 should be implemented.
b) The above requirements are applicable to all newly certified products after the 30th of June 2020.
c) For the existing GC-mark certificates, if KSA is one of its target countries, the manufacturers should apply for updating the standards before 15th July 2020. If the manufacturers do not comply with this requirement, CQC will make some adjustment to the certificates by removing the KSA until the manufacturers comply with these requirements.
d) The current harmonized standards for these two categories as published on GSO harmonized standards ( www.gso.org.sa/hs ) are still valid and shall be implemented when issuing G-Mark Certificates if one of the other GSO members states is one of the target countries on the certificate.
