On October 19, 2019, during the 83rd IEC General Meeting, China Quality Certification Centre (CQC) and Certification Body PCN DO BRASIL notified by Brazil INMETRO officially signed the MOU. The head of CQC International Cooperation Department and Mr. Kim Rieffel, President of PCN DO BRASIL signed the MOU on behalf of both organizations.
The IEC General Meeting is the highest-level meeting of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and one of the most authoritative and influential bilateral and multilateral exchange and cooperation platform in the field of standardization and conformity assessment. CQC has been actively participating in the activities of the IEC General Meeting for many years and has actively communicated with domestic and foreign counterparts. PCN is recognized by the Brazilian Conformity Assessment Association and is a member of the IAAC. It has also been reviewed by IECEE and will soon become the only IECEE-NCB in Brazil.
According to the MOU, the two sides will carry out in-depth cooperation in the areas of mutual recognition of factory inspection and certification results, exchange of information on subjects related to product standards, laws and regulations and economic and trade information, training cooperation and technical exchange activities. After cooperating with Argentina and Chile, CQC once again works with another South American country to carry out business cooperation.
Brazil is an important strategic partner of China. The signing of this MOU has established a bridge for communication and cooperation between CQC and PCN, laying a good foundation for cooperation in many fields in the future. It will further promote the development of trade between the two countries and promote mutual cooperation between China and the “Belt and Road” countries.
