Quality Management Systems (QMS) is a systematic quality management model established by an organization to achieve quality objectives, which is a strategic decision of the organization.

GB/T 19000/ISO 9000 family of standards are used for establishing and maintaining quality management systems. These standards specify requirements for planning, establishing, implementing, operating, monitoring, reviewing, maintaining, and continuously improving an organization’s quality management system. They also provide guidance for achieving continuous success in quality, helping organizations improve overall performance, and laying a solid foundation for promoting sustainable development.

The GB/T 19001/ISO 9001 standards adopt a systematic management approach based on the “Plan-Do-Check-Action” (PDCA) cycle and risk thinking to perfectly combine resources and processes. According to the characteristics of the organization, several system elements are selected and combined, which generally include the processes related to management activities, resource provision, product realization, measurement, analysis, and improvement activities. It can be understood as the requirements for planning, implementation, monitoring, correction, and improvement activities throughout the entire process of determining customer needs, design and development, production, inspection, sales, delivery, and subsequent services. These requirements, generally in a documented manner, become a necessity for internal quality management efforts within the organization.

It is undoubtedly a challenge faced by organizations that continuously meeting requirements in an increasingly complex dynamic environment and taking appropriate actions based on future needs and expectations. To this end, organizations may find it necessary to take various forms of improvement, such as breakthrough change, innovation, and restructuring in addition to corrective and continuous improvement.
